Lawn mowing Currimundi between the lake and the heath
Local context
Currimundi covers about 3.6 km², roughly 5.4 km north of Caloundra. Currimundi Lake is a saltwater lake beside the beach, crossed by Nicklin Way on the Ahern Bridge. North of it, Kathleen McArthur Conservation Park protects a remnant of wallum heath along with open forest, sedgeland and casuarina dune communities.
Common challenges
Yards bordering lake reserves or bushland catch blown seed and runners along their back boundary. Dry spells bite too: September is the driest month at the Sunshine Coast Airport weather station, averaging 51.1 mm (BOM), and lawns here can look tired by the end of winter. With 81.8% of homes being houses, many backyards also take steady foot traffic.
Why it matters
Weeds that get established along a back fence spread into the lawn and beds within a season or two. Garden waste tipped into the reserve does the reverse, carrying garden plants into heath that has been protected since 1975.
Our approach
Our lawn mowing Currimundi visits start at the boundary: weed control and mowing and edging along the fence line first, then we mow inward and bag and remove every clipping. Where the lawn is thin we suggest feeding ahead of spring growth, and the yard maintenance Currimundi owners book can scale up from there.
