Lawn Mowing Alexandra Headland

Small lawn mowing for duplex yards, unit-block strips and courtyard turf on the headland between Maroochydore and Mooloolaba.

More than half the homes on Alexandra Headland are flats or apartments (53.5% at the 2021 Census), so most lawns here are small, shared or awkward to reach. Our lawn mowing Alexandra Headland service is set up for exactly that. Push mowing Alexandra Headland yards means a mower that fits through a side gate, careful trimming around pool fences and pavers, and the clippings carried out with us.

  • In-house crew, no subcontractors
  • Based in Maroochydore, next door to the headland

Owners book lawn mowing Alexandra Headland with us because the yard is small but awkward. A strip of turf beside a duplex driveway, courtyard lawns wrapped around a pool, a unit-block frontage on a street with little parking: none of it suits a big machine, and what people want is a neat lawn without giving up a Saturday to it.

On census night in 2021, 20.7% of private dwellings on the headland were unoccupied, so many owners and investors are elsewhere. We work with the access you've got, use push mowing for stair-only and narrow side access, and finish with clean edges and green waste removal on the way out. Every lawn mowing Alexandra Headland job is done by our own crew.

Why compact homes choose LiveEdge for lawn mowing Alexandra Headland

On the headland, a good result depends less on horsepower and more on getting in, cutting cleanly and leaving shared paths spotless. Our lawn mowing Alexandra Headland visits are planned around stairs, gates, neighbours and body corporate rules before anyone starts the mower.

  • Mowers that fit the gate We bring push mowers that go through a standard side gate or up a flight of stairs, so a yard without driveway access still gets a full cut.
  • Edges do the heavy lifting On a pocket-sized lawn, the borders are half the picture. Careful mowing and edging along pavers, letterbox strips and garden beds is what makes a small lawn look kept.
  • Shared lawns, one agreed scope For duplexes and unit blocks, we agree what's mowed, how often and who signs off, so neighbours aren't left guessing whose turn it is. Works with owners, investors and managers
  • Nothing left on the stairs Clippings are bagged and carried out, and courtyards, steps and pool edges are blown clean before we leave. Green waste removal: hauled away, not left in your bin
  • Our own in-house team LiveEdge is a small, family-run local team that doesn't subcontract, so access notes taken at the quote go straight to the crew on mowing day. Owner-led by Aodhan Moloney
  • Visits while you're elsewhere If the unit is a holiday place or you're at work, we mow with agreed access and send word once it's done. Completion message after each visit

Lawn Mowing Alexandra Headland: services in the order small yards need them

Push mowing comes first on the headland because access usually decides everything else. Any lawn mowing Alexandra Headland booking can add edging, weeding or a green waste clear-out.

Push Mowing

Where there's no driveway to the back, only stairs or a gate barely wider than a wheelie bin, a push mower is the right tool. We cut courtyard lawns, duplex strips and small front lawns cleanly without tearing turf or marking pavers, then carry everything back out the way we came in.

Lawn Mowing & Edging

On a compact lawn, a crisp line along pavers, beds and fences matters as much as the cut. Regular mowing and edging stops small lawns being swallowed by the gardens around them and gives unit-block frontages the same finish from one visit to the next.

Weeding

Small yards on the headland are often more garden bed and paving than grass, and weeds show up quickly in both. We hand-weed beds, courtyard joints and the borders where turf meets paving, so the space looks finished rather than just mown.

Green Waste Removal

Unit blocks and duplexes rarely have bin space to spare after a mow. We bag clippings, prunings and weeds and take them away, so nothing ends up in a shared bin, on the stairs or in the pool. It keeps garden maintenance Alexandra Headland residents share free of arguments.

Small lots, big edges: lawn mowing Alexandra Headland in context

Local context

Alexandra Headland is a coastal rocky headland of about 1.6 km² between the Maroochydore CBD and Mooloolaba, sitting between the Maroochy and Mooloolah river estuaries. Flats and apartments make up 53.5% of occupied private dwellings, separate houses 35.6% and semi-detached homes or townhouses 7.9%.

Common challenges

With that mix, lawns tend to be small, shared or tucked behind buildings. Access is often a stairway, a narrow side path or a gate beside the bins, and the turf is hemmed in by paving, pool fences and garden beds, so there's a lot of edge for very little grass. A full-size mower is often the wrong tool before you even reach the lawn.

Why it matters

On census night, 20.7% of private dwellings were unoccupied, and 37.5% of occupied homes were rented. Many headland lawns are therefore looked after by an absent owner, an agent or a body corporate, with nobody standing in the yard to notice when edges creep or weeds take over a courtyard.

Our approach

Our lawn mowing Alexandra Headland visits start with access. We note stairs, gates and parking at the quote, bring push mowers sized for the job and agree a clear scope for shared lawns. Then it's careful mowing and edging, weeding where needed, and everything carried out.

Small-yard problems we solve on lawn mowing Alexandra Headland visits

Each of these comes from the headland's mix of units, duplexes and tight blocks, and each changes how we run lawn mowing Alexandra Headland jobs.

There's no side access, just stairs or a skinny gate

Cause

Compact lots and unit blocks often leave a stairway or a narrow path as the only route to the lawn.

Why it matters

Operators with large mowers can't get in, so the back lawn gets skipped or hacked back with a whipper snipper.

Our solution

We use push mowers and hand tools that fit through a gate or up the stairs, and carry them in and out.

Next step Describe the access when you book so we bring the right gear the first time.

Signs to watch for

  • The back lawn only ever gets whipper-snipped
  • A gate narrower than a wheelie bin
  • Stairs between the street and the yard

Push mowing for stair and gate access

Our little lawn is mostly edges and garden beds

Cause

In a small yard, borders, paving and beds outnumber open turf, and runners creep in from every side.

Why it matters

Untrimmed borders make a tiny lawn look overgrown only a few days after it was cut.

Our solution

Every visit includes mowing and edging along beds, pavers and fences, with runners cut back out of the garden.

Prevention Regular visits stop runners rooting into beds; a one-off weeding resets beds that have been lost.

The lawn our duplex shares never looks even

Cause

Each owner, tenant or agent mows their half at a different time and height, or nobody is sure whose job it is.

Why it matters

A two-tone lawn drags down both properties, especially when one half is a rental or a holiday unit.

Our solution

We agree one scope with both owners or the body corporate, mow the whole lawn at one height on the same day and confirm when it's done.

Next step Put the arrangement in writing so it survives a change of tenant.

Clippings end up all through the courtyard and pool

Cause

In tight spaces, mower discharge has nowhere to go except onto pavers, glass fencing and water.

Why it matters

Wet clippings stain stone, clog skimmer baskets and get walked inside.

Our solution

We catch clippings in confined areas, aim the mower away from water and glass, and blow down courtyards and paths before we leave.

Prevention Cutting before the grass gets long means lighter, drier clippings and less mess.

Your questions about lawn mowing on the headland

Still have questions?

We only have stairs down to the backyard. Can you still mow it?

Yes. Stair-only and gate-only yards are exactly why we use push mowers on the headland. The mower, trimmer and blower are carried in by hand, and the clippings come out the same way in bags. When you request a quote, mention the number of steps and any tight corners so we can plan the visit. If a section genuinely can't be reached safely, we'll tell you upfront rather than leave it half done.

Is a tiny courtyard lawn worth booking a mow for?

Often it's the small ones that benefit most. Courtyard lawns are boxed in by paving, walls and beds, so a few weeks of growth makes them look neglected fast. A visit covers the mow, the edges, a quick weed of the borders and a blow-down, which is usually the part owners enjoy least. We quote on what's actually there, so a small lawn gets a price that reflects its size and access.

Where does your crew park on the busier headland streets?

We sort that out at the quote. Some unit blocks have visitor bays, some duplexes have room in the driveway, and on-street parking can be limited. Tell us about any parking rules, permits or body corporate restrictions, and we'll plan arrival and loading around them. Because we use push mowers and hand-carried gear, we don't need to park right at the gate to do the job properly.

Can you mow a lawn we share with the duplex next door?

Yes, as long as both owners agree on what's included. We can quote the whole lawn or each half, then mow it in one visit at the same height so the line down the middle disappears. For rentals, we can take instructions from the agent instead of the owner. It's the simplest way to stop a shared lawn becoming a sore point between neighbours.

Is it lawn mowing Alexandra Headland or Headlands?

The official, gazetted name is Alexandra Headland, singular; the area was renamed in honour of Queen Alexandra in 1901. Plenty of people search for lawn mowing Alexandra Headlands, and our page address uses that spelling too, so either way you've found the right crew. We cover the whole 1.6 km² headland, from the unit blocks near the beach to the houses further back.

How often should a small lawn on the headland be cut?

As a general guide, fortnightly through the warmer, wetter months and monthly in winter. Small lawns hemmed in by paving can look overgrown sooner because the edges show every bit of growth, so some owners keep a fortnightly round all year. A courtyard lawn shaded by a unit block may need less. We'll suggest a schedule once we've seen how your lawn grows.

What sets the price for mowing a small or shared yard?

We price after seeing the property. For headland homes, the biggest factors are access (stairs, gates, carrying distance), how much edging there is compared with open lawn, the length of the grass, whether green waste removal is included, and how often you'd like us back. Shared lawns also depend on how the scope is split between owners. The quote is clear upfront, with no hidden extras.

Lawn Mowing Alexandra Headland: history and contact details

Before it took its current name, this point was known as Potts Point. William Pettigrew took up 330 acres here in 1864 for timber. In 1901 it was renamed Alexandra Headland in honour of Queen Alexandra, wife of King Edward VII, and Thomas O'Connor bought the land in 1903. Lots along the ocean front and Buderim Road were subdivided and sold in August 1915, and a temperance hotel opened on 31 December 1928, described as the first fully integrated resort complex on the Maroochy coast. That resort lineage still shows in the unit blocks that line the headland today. At the 2021 Census, the headland had 4,235 residents and a median age of 47.
