Lawn mowing Baringa in a suburb that's still growing
Local context
Baringa was created on 18 August 2017 from part of Bells Creek to hold growth in the Caloundra South Priority Development Area, which covers 2,323.5 ha and is planned for about 20,000 dwellings. Its first census, in 2021, counted 4,604 residents with a median age of 29; separate houses made up 83.0% of occupied homes.
Common challenges
Nearly every yard is new. Aura's published design guidelines (for example, those for the Acacia neighbourhood) require landscaping to be finished within six weeks of handover, so turf usually goes down soon after the keys change hands and then spends its first year establishing. Many lots are compact; Aura villa lots can be 12 m wide or less, so access is tight.
Why it matters
Front yards sit side by side along new streetscapes, and the guidelines cap turf at 60% of the front yard, so beds and edges carry as much weight as the grass. Owners are responsible for those frontages; check your own covenant for the detail.
Our approach
On lawn mowing Baringa visits we push-mow small lot lawns, edge every bed border and clear hard surfaces so nothing blows into the street. As part of new turf care we hold off on a first cut until the roots have taken hold, as a general guide, and keep ongoing yard maintenance light until the lawn has settled.
